Use your webcam as an online mirror

Turn your webcam into a full-screen mirror right in the browser. Click Open mirror, allow camera access, and you get a live, horizontally flipped preview — exactly like looking into a real mirror. Everything runs on your device: the video is never recorded, stored or uploaded, and the camera is released the instant you press Stop or close the tab.

When an online mirror is useful

How to use it

  1. Click Open mirror and choose Allow when the browser asks for camera permission.
  2. Your live, mirrored image appears. Move the laptop lid or phone until you are framed the way you want.
  3. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a full-screen mirror; press Esc to leave it.
  4. Press Stop when you are done — the camera light goes off immediately.

If nothing appears, the camera permission was probably denied: click the camera icon in the address bar, choose Allow, and reload. If the image is black, another app (Zoom, Teams, OBS) may be holding the webcam — close it and try again. For a full checkup of the device itself, run the webcam test, which also shows resolution details and lets you take a local snapshot.

FAQ

Is the camera feed saved or uploaded?

No. The mirror is a live preview only. The video stays in your browser, is never recorded or uploaded, and stops the moment you press Stop or close the tab.

Why is the image flipped?

It is mirrored horizontally on purpose, like a real mirror, so your movements feel natural — raise your right hand and the image raises the hand on the same side. Video call apps show your own preview mirrored too, while other participants see you un-mirrored.

Why does it look different from my phone's front camera?

Different cameras apply different processing — exposure, white balance, skin smoothing. This mirror shows the raw webcam feed with no filters, which is closest to what people actually see on a video call.

Can I use it full screen?

Yes — click the Fullscreen button after opening the mirror, and press Esc to exit. On phones, rotating to landscape usually gives the biggest image.
